WARNER ROBINS, GA – The William L. Turner Uplift Foundation and the brothers of the Omega Gamma Gamma recently had a busy week awarding five $1,000 ($5,000 total) scholarships to local students. On Monday, May 20, 2013 two scholarships were given to Veteran High School students (Dominique Crittenden-3.2GPA and Bryan Horton-3.5GPA). On Tuesday, May 21 two scholarships were given to Warner Robins High School students (Asha Stegall-3.9GPA and Kiondra Anderson-3.5GPA). On Wednesday, May 22, 2013 one scholarship was given to Houston County High School student (Daryl Vining-3.5GPA).
Bro. Sam Henderson, Basileus, stated “I'm very proud to be part of an organization that contributes to the development of the next generation of American leaders”. The students and parents were very glad to receive the scholarships. Bro. Eddie Sanders, Scholarship Chairman, summarized the overall feeling of events by saying, “I felt almost as excited as the students receiving the awards. If you could have seen the happiness on their face.” Omega Gamma Gamma plans to work with the William L. Turner Uplift Foundation to increase the amount of scholarships awarded next year.
Omega Gamma Gamma Chapter was chartered on December 9, 1988, in Warner Robins, Georgia. Actively involved in community affairs and collaborations, the chapter prides itself on hosting initiatives that are relevant in advancing the cultural, social and fiscal standing of the Warner Robins and middle Georgia citizenry.
